Throwing Control: preparation for more complex forms

Techniques for centering and opening larger amounts of clay, and for controlling wobble. 
 

Thrown and Altered: Interesting Rims and Adding Tool Marks

Explore altering forms at the wheel, including altering rims, creating ovals and squares, and adding tool marks to interact with glaze. 

 

Applied Relief: sprigs, slip-trailing, tube-lining and frosting 

Building surface interest using a range of processes at the leather-hard stage, and considering how glaze will interact with the surface. Suitable for hand-built and wheel thrown pots; the walls shouldn’t be too thin.

Decorating Slips: Stencil, Transfer, Painting and Pouring

From monochrome to multi-coloured, controlled repeat pattern to expressive marks. You will create an interesting decorated surface at the leather-hard stage, with only simple glazing necessary. Suitable for hand-built and wheel thrown pots; the walls shouldn’t be too thin.

Glaze, Form & Surface

A chance to glaze pots made over the previous weeks; consider glaze choice in relation to your forms, how glazes behave on their own and in combination, how they will flow, break or pool.

Cost

3hr Workshops: £42 Regular & Unlimited Members, £50 Flexible Members, £75 Non- Members

4.5 Hour Workshops: £70 Regular & Unlimited Members, £85 Flexible Members, £125 Non-Members

You will need to bring pots at the appropriate stage to the decorating and glazing workshops,There will be a small charge of £1.50 per 100 grams for any work you choose to fire and glaze with us, we fire to 1220
